How to Rip DVD to AVI - 700MB Videos

How to Rip DVD to AVI - 700MB Videos

You can't actually "rip a DVD into an MKV file". It's 2 steps. The first is ripping - getting the movie off the DVD. The 2nd step is converting to MKV or whatever. We have been known at times to be unkind to newbies who ask about ripping to various formats when such is actually impossible as it's a 2 step process - rip then convert. I'd encourage you in the future to use the correct terminology.

As aedipuss points out 400 MB or less is not going to result in anything that most of us would consider to be "maximum quality" but perhaps you are not very fussy and such is OK for your needs. Maybe you would findHandbrake ,Vidcoder to be useful, but I've heard reports that it may not behave correctly when asked to produce files as small as what you are looking at.

Hard drives are cheap. I don't know where you live but in most developed countries it's pretty foolish to worry about disk space when you can just buy another drive.
